Before implementing a Warehouse Management System (WMS), HSB Haaften experienced difficulties with stock overview and management. Staff often weren't sure exactly where products were located, and sometimes pallets weren't found until after their expiry date had passed.
The annual stocktake meant the warehouse had to temporarily close, which was troublesome for their next-day delivery service. Furthermore, expiry dates and batch numbers were written down by hand and later manually entered into the system, which often resulted in errors.
New products were also not immediately visible in the system, meaning they could not be sold straight away. Furthermore, training new employees took a lot of time because they first had to familiarise themselves with the entire warehouse.
HSB Haaften is a wholesale supplier for the hospitality industry with one warehouse in Haaften and eight lorries. As the warehouse grew, the old manual processes were no longer working effectively. Therefore, the company opted for a WMS from Made4net, which was linked to their ERP system and scanners in the warehouse.
The implementation was well guided by Made4net and the Made4Logistics team; it was intensive but very educational.
